Reports from Spain indicate that Chelsea have opened informal talks with Athletico Madrid to sign their Colombian hitman Radamel Falcao.
Chelsea owner,Roman Abrahamovich authorized the talks following the clubs struggle in front of goal so far this season. The club's main striker,Fernando Torres has struggled to replicate the form that made Chelsea shell out £50m two years ago.His understudy,Daniel Sturridge has also failed to impress so far. Coach Robberto Di Matteo has therefore identified the Colombian as the ideal striker to lead the club to victory.
The Colombian has a €45m buy out clause in his contract but Athletico have slammed €60m price tag on their prized asset. Only Barcelona's Lionel Messi and Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo have scored more goals than Falcao. He has scored 121 goal in 147 appearances for both Athletico Madrid and FC Porto.
If the deal goes through,he will sign for the European Champions in January and would be handed the most lucrative deal in Premier League history. However,Chelsea have to settle the complicated ownership structure for the striker especially with super agent Jorges Mendez.
